"United We Stand"
by Betty Easler

On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, the unthinkable happened in the United States of America! The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave had its resolve shaken but not broken. We were glued to whatever form of communication was available, and disbelief quickly turned to shock and horror as the tragedy of the terrorist attacks unfolded. As shock turns to pain, dismay to strength and fears to courage, let us resolve to ban together to help each other in whatever way possible in the challenging weeks still ahead of us.

Emotionally, we are still in a state of shock as we learn more about the
climbing death toll and the innocent people behind those dreadful numbers.
People from dozens of nations lost innocent citizens in twin towers that
symbolized the spirit of international cooperation. America and the world
continue to mourn, but we take great comfort in the acts of heroism and
caring which define who we are. We'll always remember the rescue workers, volunteers, blood donors and all other heroes and heroines who risked their lives to bring some semblance of hope from this horrifying experience. Hundreds of those heroes died doing their jobs against ridiculous odds and amid unspeakable danger.

The staff of EnabledOnline.com expresses sincere sympathy to those readers throughout the world who have lost family and friends in this dreadful disaster. We must stand as one in full support of our President and his cabinet, and America's men and women in the U.S. military, as they prepare to deal with those who perpetrated these heinous crimes against all humanity. To quote an anonymous source, who expressed it so succinctly in the aftermath, "Citizens of every nation must stand together, or they will fall alone!"

As we remember the victims and their hurting families in the weeks ahead, let us resolve to do our part. Let us show solidarity and return some degree of normalcy to our lives. In the words of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "together we shall overcome." God bless you and God bless America.
