A rainy day couldn’t dampen the spirits of those attending the third annual “Welcome Home Event and Career Expo for Independence” on February 27 at the Orlando V.A. Medical Center. Despite the rain, more than 1,200 individuals and 80 motivated vendors took part. They provided a wide variety of services to returning veterans, seniors and people with disabilities. The event was co-sponsored by the Center for Independent Living in Central Florida’s Business Advisory Council, the Orlando V.A. Medical Center, Orlando Magic, Contact Centers of America and the Central Florida Disability Chamber.

CIL had nine staff there to talk about employment and the full range of services the agency provides. Some featured employers that attended were Orlando Magic, Home Depot, Universal Orlando, Walgreens, Lockheed Martin, Walt Disney World, Hyatt Orlando International Airport, and Contact Centers of America, among other great Florida employers.

Health Screenings
Homeless Services
And referral to other resources

We will set up an appointment so you can meet with an employment specialist. They will work with you to provide resume help, mock job interviews to prepare you for the actual interview, and background information on different employers. If you are motivated to get a job, the employment specialists will work hard to locate employers.
